Photo from 'Surfer's Ball 2010' on Central Beach, Plettenberg Bay:

Hi.

My name is Mike Scott.

I drew comics featuring Bru; a tall skinny bald guy in underpants, and Boegie; a short bald round guy in underpants. I drew the first Bru & Boegie comic at University.

Sometimes Bru & Boegie makes sense to only me. Neither Bru nor Boegie is based on any person in particular so I suppose they represent a part of myself. They say what I think is funny. At least, reading through them often makes me laugh out loud.

This site serves as a collection of most of the Bru & Boegie comics I've made as well as an online portfolio of my other professional drawing and animation work, gig dates and anything else I find interesting.

Below is a collection of some of the kiff things I've done: I play drums and VJ for my brother and my band 'The Kiffness'. Sometimes I surf. I like throwing frisbee. My mom wrote an awesome book and my dad's a legend doctor. My brother is a ninja with the music.

An animated music video I made for Goldfish's song 'Soundtracks and Comebacks' was nominated for a SAMA (South African Music Award) in 2009 for 'Best Music Video'. It won an MK 'Neon' award in 2010.

If you have young kids and they watch local TV they probably see my work everyday. I animated the intro and outro, birds and dog for daily pre-school show 'Cool Catz' on e-tv and used to animate episodes of Jozi Zoo that still plays (I think) on Saturday mornings on e-tv.

I also designed the puppets and drew the backgrounds for SABC 2 music show 'Jakkals Jol'. I also animated lots of stuff in Corne & Twakkie's 'The Most Amazing Show' Season 1 on SABC.

I've recently completed work on an iPhone game for an American client, I used to draw cartoons for an American drumming magazine, I drew cartoons for PC Format magazine, Plumbing Africa, and I still do a monthly Medical Chronicle cartoon.

I created an entire 52-part series of interstitials called 'HappyLand Shorts' as a personal project. I worked on a Spanish / American animated show, animated two episodes though not at liberty to say what.

I've co-designed popular t-shirt 'e Sempowenis' and have won lots of times on t-shirt competition site Springleap.com.

I've designed book covers, posters, I designed this website, flyers, record voices, edit audio.

I was one of 15 animators from Africa selected for a UNESCO Africa Animated 2.0! fully sponsored 5-week training course in Durban in 2005.

My work's been featured on many websites, and students, locally and internationally, have done projects involving me and my work.

My animation work has taken part in the Anima Mundi festival in Brazil in 2010, has been part of the Portable Film Festival, ICEBOX festival, Africa in Motion festival and more.

I animated the Madam & Eve / Lotto TV ads in 2010.

I live in South Africa.
